FMS presents Rachel’s Challenge

On January 6th, FMS will be presenting an assembly to students called Rachel’s Challenge. Rachel Scott was the first person killed in the Columbine High School Tragedy on April 20, 1999. She left behind an amazing legacy and a simple challenge to anyone who will accept it – treat others with kindness and compassion and you just may change the world you live in.

We are pleased to be able to invite parents and family members to hear this incredible story of courage and hope in an evening presentation of Rachel’s Challenge on January 6th at 7PM in our Commons. This event shares much of the same information students viewed earlier in the day and ends with a specific challenge to parents and community leaders, showing them how they can reinforce the decisions their youth are making.  Learn more at http://www.rachelschallenge.org/

Please plan on attending this special event on January 6th, 2010. This event is co-sponsored by FMS ASB in collaboration with WMS and FMS PTSA’s, and WMS.

Art Odyssey Mural Mounted!

Big news at Larrabee!  Last year, our Art Odyssey project was an all-school endeavour orchestrated by local artist, Jacquie Bresadola. First, Jacquie worked with a group of students to develop an idea for a mural and then all students contributed a ceramic tile (or more) to the completion of the mural.  The mural was fired, covered with a protective layer of Plexiglas and is now mounted on the school.  A big thank you goes out to Art Odyssey Coordinator, Nancy Cullinane, artists Jacquie Bresadola and Chris Baker and the numerous parent volunteers for their hard work and persistence in seeing this beautiful piece of art to fruition.
